Did you know it was to play the part of one of Canada’s most infamous serial killers?

Meet Karla Homolka, and look into the eyes of the devil herself.

Karla Homolka was born May 4th, 1970 in Port Credit, Ontario. She was the eldest daughter of three.

She met Paul Bernardo on October 17th, 1987. She was seventeen, and he was twenty three at the time.

On June 15th, 1991, Paul Bernardo met fifteen year old Leslie Erin Mahaffy, who was locked out of her home, after returning later than her curfew. They started a conversation, he offered a cigarette from the car, and from there forced her home with him.
Paul was already engaged to Karla Homolka atthe time.

Paul and Karla kept Mahaffy for about twenty four hours. In that time, they repeatedly sexually assaulted Leslie. They eventually killed her, and together dismembered her and washed her body parts and encased them in concrete.

On June 29th, 1991, two people in a canoe discovered Leslie’s body along the edge of a lake near St. Catherines, Ontario. The same day Paul Bernardo and Karla Homolka celebrated a lavish wedding at Niagra-On-The-Lake, complete with horse drawn carriage.

On April 16th, 1992, together as a couple, they abducted fifteen year old Kristin French. They kept Kristin captive for several days, while they abused, tortured and sexually assaulted her.

On April 30th, 1992, they killed Kristin French. After the girls death, the couple attended Easter dinner at Homolka’s parents home.

In 1993, Kalra Homolka was hospitalized after her husband beat her. Paul Bernardo was arrested on January 6th, 1993 with Assault with a weapon.
In February 1993, it was discovered that Bernardo’s DNA matched that of “the Scarborough Rapist” who had eluded police for quite some time.

Karla Homolka was questioned about her husband and ended up turning "states" evidence to the "Crown".
Self preservation, I say.

She cut herself a plea bargain, pleaded guilty to manslaughter in exchange for a lighter sentence.
They didn’t know, they had made a deal with the devil herself.

Once the deal was final, the video tapes surfaced. The couple had taped their vile acts, making a permanent record of their perversions.
One tape showed Karla “prettying” herself and Mahaffy up before sexually abusing her, which Karla also participated in.
You want to look good on camera, right?

As the evidence blew this case wide open, and the shit hit the fan, one piece that stuck, was the story of Homolka’s sister’s death.
It seems in 1993, Homolka stole Halcion, a veterinary tranquilizer, and she and Paul administered it to Karla’s younger sister, Tammy, 14, in an alcoholic drink. It was Karla’s Christmas present to Paul, together they raped the unconscious girl in the basement of the family home.

Tammy died that night. The official cause of death was choking on her own vomit. Probable connection to the halcyon.

Another piece that stuck was the fact that during the abductions, Karla Homolka went to work each day. She did not seem different or let on to anyone anything was wrong.
At anytime during the day, many days, she could have asked for help, called the police and put an end to the hurt and pain and murder.
But she chose not to.

On September 1st, 1995, Bernardo was found guilty of the murders of Leslie Mahaffy and Kristen French. He will serve his life in prison, with virtually no chance of parole.
He has since confessed to several of the Scarborough rapes.

On July 4th, 2005 Karla Homolka was released form Prison after serving just twelve years.

On February 4th, 2007, Karla Homolka, who had an active role in killing three children, gave birth to a baby boy in Quebec, Canada.

All six video tapes depicting the sexual abuse of the three victims in this case have been destroyed.

A publication ban of certain facts in this case, is still in effect and still enforced.

And the movie, starring Laura Prepon? It was finished, and it was released. But since the murders of Kristin and Leslie are still fresh in the minds of the Canadian public, it was not well received.
