Following wynter's Lead ... Yeah Team!
The World Junior A Hockey Championship was played between December 26th and January 5th (which is oddly, basically the 12 days of Christmas
) this year in Pardubice, Czech Republic, and Canada took home the gold!
This is the fourth consecutive gold medal for Canada at this competition.
To make things better, Steve Mason from the London Knights was thier unbeatable goal tender.
He was chosen Most Valuable Player, Most Valuable Goal Tender, and of course picked for the All Star Team.
Hopefully they can make it five years, on home ice in Calgary next year.

(It's a joke! Don't hit me!)
LOL!
We don't win alot here, but we have hockey!
~ Have a great, 2008! ~
congrats! seems like all the guys from the NHL are from canada or minnesota...LOL
I have to confess, ice skating kinda scares me. I mean, I've done it & enjoyed it, but I'm scared I'll fall down & someone will skate over my fingers & cut them off
Ice skating hurts.
I do want to drive the big ice tractor, though. (Yes, I know it's a Zamboni, but I still prefer the term 'ice tractor'.)
Woot!
I love International hockey - it seems so much more like a sport and less like a
street fight than NHL hockey. I don't know about Canadians specifically - maybe y'all are a bunch of brawlers, too.
But, I love Olympic hockey.
The rink here is called the Carolina Ice Palace & it has PVC pipe walker-like things for beginners. They are hilarious!!
The first (and last) time I went ice skating, I had to keep running into the wall, because I didn't know how else to stop. I am groovy on some rollerskates, but I could not get the hang of ice skating.
I did some figure skating in my day, but I quit before I got to the really hard stuff, and of course I became too cool for it, lol.

But I'm not into
the fights, usually it looks more like dancing.
They get ahold of each other and
turn in circles, its hard to get a punch off on skates I think.
There have been accidents where people got hurt for sure.
With the NHL, seems the more protection they use, they rougher the game is.
I enjoy the game, its fast paced and fun, and I like a good hard check.
