London Ontario Hosts "Sicko" Premiere
Michael Moore's new documentary "Sicko" launched in London, Ontario, Canada on Friday night.
He arrived fifteen minutes before show time. He lingered for interviews and fans outside "Masonville's Silver City", delaying the start time of the movie.
Michael Moore in London, Ontario, Canada
Shown above Moore autographs a sign for a fan, the sign read: Michael Moore for Prime Minister!
I found out that the portly Michigan man, is one quarter Canadian.
Keifer Sutherland (Jack Bauer, 24) was supposed to make an appearance but he was in Romania and couldn't make it.
Why is Keifer in Romania?
Anyways, we found that out from his mother, Shirley Douglas, who was in attendance.
Turns out Keifer's grandfather, Tommy Douglas, is the innovator behind Canada's universal healthcare system.
And strangely enough, Christopher Guest's (from Spinal Tap fame) grandfather is involved in the development of the heathcare system in the UK.
London, Ontario figures promently in the film.
If you watch, Enjoy the beautiful city!

Post a CommentThis sounds really interesting, Jinx! I'd like to see the movie. I so don't trust this guy, though. But, I'd still like to see it and do some research of my own.

I'm really interested in learning about Canada's system. I'm so at a loss for what to think or do about the health care system here. It's unconscionable to be that there are families and children with no health coverage. But, at the same time, the only universal system I've been involved in - the military system - sucks pretty big donkey balls in a lot of ways.

The hubbin and I were just talking about this subject the other day, and we realized that our opinions aren't all that informed on this...
to me*
I want to see this.
What is the movie about?
The health care industry
oh, 'sicko' like,
I'm sick~
I'm retarded right now.
jen, I'm sure, as in any Michael Moore documentary, it's slanted. I've heard that he paints too rosy a picture, and I believe that. There has been alot of cut backs in our health care system, and wait times for surgeries and testing equipment can lengthy. It's not all perfect, but its nice to know I can walk into any hospital here and get care.
I really don't know how some of you Popple Moms do it sometimes.
I thought it was cool he opened the movie here, it was pretty cool for London.
"Incarcerate Parasite and Celebrate!"
Wow, there are some famous grandpas involved in the healthcare system! How bizarre.
Yeah, that was just bizarre to hear that, but thats what he said in an interview I watched.

"Incarcerate Parasite and Celebrate!"
i'd really like to see this documentary. im sure that it is slanted jinxy. its how he does movies but it really at the same time is going to show just how crappy our healthcare system is. i hope even if it is slanted its a wakeup call and something will get done over here to change things.
I was going to go to this, but a pretty wicked storm stopped me at the last minute.
I heard Shirley Douglas say on the news that Kiefer was flying in from Romania (where he is currently filming "Mirrors"). However, she said she wasn't sure if he was going to make it in time for the beginning of the film.
That is so cool!! Wish I'd known maybe I would've drove it to see him
