Lord of Dogtown
One of the things I like most about The Lords of Dogtown is Heath Ledgers performance as Skip Engblom.
Before I saw Lords of Dogtown, I was fortunate enough to see the documentary, Dogtown and Z Boys. Behind both productions was Stacey Peralta, one of the Z Boys himself.
If you have heard the real Skip, you realise how good Heaths protrayal of him was.
I tried really hard to find a clip of Heath, with Emile Hirsch on the pier, but I couldn't. But I found a clip of Heath as Skip.
Unfortunately, I had a hard time coming up with a clip from Z Boys, but I found a clip of him on You Tube. I hope they are decent enough to hear the similarities.

Post a CommentI didn't even realize that was him in the movie until all this happened. That was a good movie - sad ending.
Yah, he did an amazing job in that movie. I love that movie!
Whoaa I totally didn't recognize him in that pic! I've never heard of this!
You should totally watch it. It was written by Stacey Peralta who is an OG skateboarding dude. I mean, he was a Z Boy then he went on to start Powell/Peralta who sponsored the Bones Brigade. Anyhow, it's just an awesome movie though on top of being so cool.
Ok adding it to my mental list. I wish the FB or shelfari had something for movies as well.. I can never remember/keep track of everything I want to see. I still haven't gotten Heathers.. I totally forgot about it until Whip posted her movie blog the other day!!
It was really frustrating trying to find clips that did him justice.
If you get the chance to see Dogtown and Z Boys, I highly reccommend that as well.
If you like docs, add Riding Giants to the list, its another Peralta production about legendary surfers. Peralta makes good docs!

I've added both those docs to the queue, Jinx! I'll hold out until the hubbin gets back, though. He'd like to see those too.
I never saw this movie either. I'll look it up. What a loss of young talent!
