Marc Emery is a “legalization of marijuana advocate”. Currently, he is the publisher of Cannibis Culture magazine, and the leader of the British Columbia Marijuana Party.

He has a list of arrests in his quest for his cause. He used to have a “head shop” in London Ontario, but the young man went West. Must have been the lure of BC Bud.

He created a website for his cannibis culture magazine that includes a store. It sells tshirts, wristbands, rolling papers, etc, and seeds.

He sold seeds through the store and shipped them to some customers, I assume were adults, residing in the United States.

Eventually, the United States DEA came a’knockin. They requested the arrest of Marc Emery. The Canadian government arranged a raid on the BC Marijuana Party Bookstore and Headquarters. (Sorry, that makes me laugh)

They also arrested the Prince of Pot, appropriately at a Hempfest in Nova Scotia.

The DEA now want Marc Emery extradited to the States, to face 10 years to life, for a crime that receives a $200 dollar fine in British Columbia, Canada. His extradition hearing was set for January 21st, 2008. That hearing was adjourned, "in order to continue negotiations for a possible plea deal agreement between the United States, Canada, and Marc Emery".
Mr. Emery and two others will return to court on Wednesday, February 6th to reschedule an extradition hearing if needed.

This wouldn't piss me off so much, except I think both our governments have bigger things to worry about.

That, and recently, a man from St. Thomas, near London, Ontario, who cannot be named as to protect the innocent, was arrested for sexually abusing his pre school aged daughter in live time, on the internet. An undercover police officer was watching, and they zeroed in on that bastard, and saved the little girl.

He pleaded guilty to three counts of making child porn, one count of possession of child porn, and one count of distribution of child porn.
Although the judge described the case “gross and sickening”, and “the biggest breach of trust”, our Daddy Dearest received a four year prison sentence!
And it seems he is looking at twenty months, because of time served.

When I hear of such injustices, I have to wonder what is wrong with our world, and where our priorities are.
It's unbelievable that our government is going to allow a man, who abused his daughter for profit, free in 4 years (if you pretend he will serve the entire sentence), but waste their time and money extraditing a dude who smokes pot.

No matter how you feel about marijuana use and legalization, I figure most people would rather have a neighbour that smokes weed, than a neighbour thats a pedophile.

No matter where you are from, if you want to stop the insanity, take the time for this online petition to prevent the extradition of Marc Emery and two others, known as the BC3.
